A native of South Louisiana, Heidi Dunagan was taught to make pies at an early age. Her grandmother, a farm girl from Washington State, always had homemade pies on the counter when the family would visit and thankfully, she passed down the tricks of making some of her favorites (and her delicious crust!) to her daughter and granddaughters. Pie was always the dessert of choice and phrases like “keep the dough chilly” and “don’t overwork the crust” were commonly heard while baking.
A few moves and many, many years later, Handmade Bake shop was born in Charleston, South Carolina to pass along the homemade pie tradition. We hope we’re making Grandma Lois proud. Her pies were one of a kind!
